The LISD Office of Communications and BOWL 4 KIDS sponsors distributed new jackets to 40 students at Hachar, Heights, Bruni, Dovalina, Daiches, Zachry, and Santo Nino Elementary Schools and Memorial Middle School. Through the department’s 13th annual “Coat Them with Love” Campaign approximately 360 LISD elementary and middle school students received a new jacket for the holiday season. The jackets were purchased with proceeds from the district’s annual BOWL 4 KIDS bowling tournament where over 200 LISD employees and community sponsors laced up their bowling shoes to raise funds for LISD students. This year’s sponsors included Chick-Fil-A Marketplace, Kazen, Meurer, and Perez Law Firm, Falcon Bank, Juan Cruz Attorneys, PNC Bank, Rudy Morales Attorney at Law, Whataburger, Laurel Insurance, DBR Engineering, Laredo Federal Credit Union, and Sun Belt Air Conditioning.

It's feeling a lot like Christmas! The Martin High School Band held their Christmas Concert last night. Tigerland's La Banda del Animo, Mariachi Los Tigres del Sur, and Color Guard honored LISD Board of Trustees Member Monica Garcia for her continuous support and commitment to Laredo ISD.

Christmas Magic is in the air! LISD Director of Library and Media Services Mely Paez and campus librarians held their annual Christmas Luncheon. They enjoyed a delicious meal and exchanging of gifts. The LISD Department of Library & Media Services wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
It is very merry and bright in BlueJay Nation! The Santa Mara Elementary School Elementary National Honor Society visited the Regence Care Center for fun festive activities and Christmas Carols.
The LISD Fine Arts Department hosted the Toro Team Elementary Honor Choir Concert. The choir performed classic Christmas carols to welcome the holiday season. The Honor Choir included students from Daiches, Ligarde, Kawas, Santo Niño, and Zachry Elementary Schools.
LISD students participated in the Fiesta Christmas Parade on Saturday afternoon. LISD elementary school cheer squads, middle school cheer squads, bands, and LISD high school Marching Bands, cheer squads and JROTC walked down San Bernardo Ave. singing and playing Christmas Carols. Leading the parade was LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios who was this years Parade Grand Marshall.
The VMT Dance Department held a Christmas Spectacular at the VMT Auditorium on Friday afternoon. Parents and students were treated to a variety of dances choreographed to classical Christmas Carol.
Nixon High School Girls Soccer Program received a donation from Academy Sports and Outdoors on San Bernardo Ave. Academy Sports and Outdoors presented the Nixon Girls Soccer team with a $1500 gift card that allowed the team to purchase equipment and accessories they need for the upcoming season. The NHS Girls Soccer team thanks Academy for their support.
