Laredo’s combined law enforcement officials including Laredo ISD Police Departments, in conjunction with the City of Laredo Police Department, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office, and the Constable’s Office reminded the public about school bus safety, speed limits and the use of electronic devices while driving in school zones. Monday, August 11, is the first day of class for Laredo ISD.
Laredo Independent School District elementary campuses hosted Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday evening. Tarver Elementary School staff and administration welcomed back students and parents for the 2025-26 school year. Parents visited their teacher’s classroom for a firsthand look into the learning their children will receive daily. Parents learned what expectations the teachers have set for their classes. Teachers also answered questions and concerns from the parents.
From checkups to community care, our 2025 Health Fair had it all! Thank you to everyone who helped us kick off the school year with health, heart, and high spirits. Here’s to a strong start and an even stronger year ahead!

REMINDER: As we welcome students back on Monday, August 11th, we’d like to remind families of House Bill 1481, a new Texas law that goes into effect this school year.
📵 The law prohibits the use of personal communication devices, such as cell phones, smartwatches, and tablets, during the school day for all students from Pre-K through 12th grade.
Devices must be turned off and kept in backpacks from the first bell to the last, even in hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other school spaces.
Let’s work together to create distraction-free learning environments across LISD!
