The Laredo ISD's annual Spelling Bee competition featured the best spellers from LISD's elementary and middle schools! For the third consecutive year, Christen Middle School sixth grade student Victoria Salazar won first place. Coming in second place was Alfredo Jose Vazquez, eighth grade student at Lamar Middle School. Winning the third place trophy was Tarver Elementary School third grade student Keyla Desiree Vazquez.

The Laredo Independent School District’s Athletic Office announces the athletic schedule for LISD middle and high schools for Tuesday, January 16, and Wednesday, January 17.
All Tuesday games have been “tentatively” rescheduled to Wednesday, except for two boys’ soccer matches (they have been cancelled). Middle School Girls’ Basketball Games have been rescheduled from Wednesday to Saturday, January 20.

UPDATE: Laredo ISD weather update and class schedule
After assessing current weather conditions and participating in various discussions with the City of Laredo Emergency Management Team (EMT) and UISD, the Laredo Independent School District will cancel classes and daily operations on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
However, based on the weather forecast, LISD will be delaying the start of school on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
LISD students are asked to report to their classes as per the following schedule:
Elementary Schools 9:45 AM
Middle Schools 10:00 AM
High Schools 10:15 AM
Parents are reminded to dress their children warmly and in layers. Breakfast will be provided at 9:30 AM for elementary students and 9:45 AM for middle and high school students. Transportation will be provided for those students who ride the bus. Please visit our website for modified bus route pickup times.
LISD will continue monitoring weather conditions and work with the City of Laredo Emergency Management Team to address any other significant weather forecast changes. Should there be any modifications to the previous schedule, parents and staff will receive notification.

REMINDER: Laredo ISD weather update and class schedule
After assessing current weather conditions and participating in various discussions with the City of Laredo Emergency Management Team (EMT) and UISD, the Laredo Independent School District has scheduled a regular instructional day for all students and staff on Monday, January 15, 2024. Student transportation and meals will be provided as regularly scheduled, and all LISD departments will be conducting business as usual on that day.
However, based on the current weather forecast for Laredo, freezing temperatures are expected on Tuesday, January 16. In order to keep our students and staff safe during these inclement weather conditions, LISD will cancel classes and daily operations on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
LISD is aware that there may be other forecast changes regarding this cold front over the weekend. Therefore, LISD will continue monitoring weather conditions and work with the City of Laredo Emergency Management Team to address any changes. Should there be any modifications to the previous schedule, parents and staff will receive notification late Sunday afternoon.
