
The LISD Bilingual/ESL Department recently celebrated LPAC Appreciation Week from November 28th to December 2nd, to honor the LPAC teams that assist us to service our Emergent Bilingual population district-wide.




The Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts dance department, directed by Ms. Leyendecker, will have a dance recital December 13th at the VMT auditorium with two shows starting at 9:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.!

Heights Elementary School Early Childhood students participated in Donuts with Dad activities. Students were reviewing the letters and working on several activities with their dads or family representative.





Students from the Laredo ISD Toro Team put on an entertaining Christmas Choir Concert this evening at the LISD PAC. The children’s sweet voices filled the auditorium with the holiday spirit while the Cigarroa High School Band serenaded guests in the foyer.





Daiches Elementary School students had the opportunity to view the Christmas art exhibit created by LISD students this morning. The Vela sisters (dressed in pink) attended last night's choir concert and represented Macdonell Elementary School.

‘Tis the season for Christmas carols. Tonight students from Bruni, Leyendecker, Dovalina, Macdonell, Santa Maria and Farias Elementary Schools sang in the Honors Choir Concert held in the Dennis Nixon Performing Arts Center in the LISD PAC. The boys and girls from the District’s Tiger Team performed admirably with joy and glee. The Martin High School Band added to the holiday spirit with music in the foyer where friends and families viewed an exhibit of Christmas art created by LISD students. Tomorrow the Christmas concert continues featuring students from the Toro Team. And Thursday night’s concert highlights the talents of students in the Mustang Team. Concerts begin at 6:00 pm.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. Ryan Elementary School acknowledged its amazing heroes. Faculty and staff wore blue in honor of all our heroes.





The Top Accelerated Reader students from each elementary school were recognized for their dedication to reading. Students were treated to watch 'Lyle, Lyle Crocodile.' To their surprise, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus were there to greet the kiddos and wish them a very Merry Christmas!





Congratulations to MHS Junior FFA student Triana Garcia for being named the Red White and You Lamb Reserve Grand Champion! Triana received a beautiful belt buckle and $750 cash. Along with her Lamb Dexter, Triana has also earned the title of 2022 Lamb Senior Showmanship Champion!

The LISD Board of Trustees welcomed four new board members who were sworn-in during a Special Call Meeting in November: Juan Ramirez, District 1; Veronica V. Orduño, District 3; Goyo Lopez, District 5; and Dr. Gilberto "Gil" Martinez, District 6.


O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, how beautiful is thee! The LISD Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was a success thanks to our grounds crew, high school bands and choir, cheer and dance teams, and of course Santa Claus🎄


Congratulations Sophia Almaraz, 10th grade student at the VMT School of Communications and Fine Arts, for submitting the winning design for the annual Create a Christmas Card Contest. Sophia’s artwork will be used as this year’s official Christmas card for LISD.


The LISD tree is looking bright and merry for tonight's lighting ceremony thanks to our grounds crew! Join us at the LISD Performing Complex Center at 5:00 p.m.
The free event will feature live music, dance performances, and a special appearance by Santa Claus!


It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Laredo ISD! This year’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will kick off the holiday season on December 1, 2022, at the LISD Performing Arts Complex located at 2400 San Bernardo Avenue at 5:00 p.m.


Nixon High Schools Welding Program received a check from the Laredo Area Community Foundation on behalf of the Sergio M. Garcia Endowment Fund. The funds will be used to purchase tools that require the students to practice daily to improve on their welding skills including metals, gases, and equipment. Martin High School was also present with a check from the LACF.
