
Throughout the week and in preparation for the 2023-2024 school year, LISD teachers have been attending Smart Conference Training. They are absorbing information about new strategies and techniques they can use in the classroom to improve student learning.











J.C. Martin Elementary School was the recipient of a donation of school supplies thanks to LISD’s community partner DBR Incorporated. Representatives from DBR stopped by the school today and presented the donations which included pencils, crayons, paper, folders, and much more. On behalf of LISD and the students and staff at J.C. U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar announced $1,399,532 in federal funding for Texas A&M International University this morning. Both awards were provided by the National Science Foundation.
The Preparing STEM Majors as Outstanding Certified Secondary Mathematics Teachers for South Texas program will prepare 37 undergraduate TAMIU STEM students to be mathematics teachers at Laredo Independent School District (LISD) and United Independent School District (UISD). The Track 1 Project will help improve undergraduate engineering student retention through virtual learning and group activities.

These 21 athletes worked really hard all week and are bringing home the following awards: Superior Ribbon in their Band Chant & Cheer Evaluations, Game Day Champions in the Large Varsity Division, Chant Champions in the Large Varsity Division, Bid to the NCA Jr & Sr National Championship in Dallas, TX, Technical Excellence in Prop Incorporation, 18 Team All American Nominees, 1 NCA All American Team Member, Most Improved Mascot to CT the Toro, NCA All American Mascot to TC the Toro, and Spirit Stick!
The Cigarroa Cheerleaders are under the direction of Assistant Coaches Litzy Gutierrez, Victor Gutierrez, and Head Coach/Sponsor Nataly Ramirez.

Martin High School graduate basketball player Maisy Perez has committed to playing basketball at Vermont State University-Lyndon (FKA Northern Vermont University-Lyndon). Maisy signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and basketball career at VSU, in Lyndon, Vermont, yesterday at the MHS Library.





During LISD's Regular Board Meeting for the month of July, the Board of Trustees recognized the LISD Human Resources, CCMR, and Finance Management Departments, Cigarroa High School student Adrian Zamora, and the Kazen Fellows cohort.
