Young engineers at A.M. Bruni and Don Jose Gallego Elementary took on a super important mission: design a playground for their school! They put on their thinking caps and worked together like a real engineering team by surveying their campus grounds, referencing maps, and creating blueprints. Their dream is to one day make their creative ideas come to life!

Nixon High School Business, Industry, and Public Service Early College Academy graduating seniors were celebrated during the Early College Academy’s Scholars Ceremony. The students will be graduating with an Associate’s degree from Laredo College.

In preparation for Memorial Day Weekend, the Martin High School JROTC assisted the American Legion Post 59 in the placement of flags on veterans graves this past Saturday.




The Laredo Independent School District had a day of remembrance to honor all fallen war heroes, Prisoners of War (POW), and Missing in Action (MIA).
Memorial Middle School students and the Martin High School ROTC participated in a Roll Call of all fallen American Heroes, from the Laredo area, POW, and MIA, followed by the playing of “TAPS” by retired LISD music teacher Bobby Lopez.
The Webb County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard conducted a 21 Gun Salute. A wreath was placed in memory of the fallen soldiers. Also, a commemorative plaque was unveiled remembering six brave young men who attended St. Joseph’s Academy, joined the military, and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Major Robert Kibbe, Assistant Profession of Military Science at Texas A&M University at Kingsville was the guest speaker.

The Laredo Independent School District has scheduled an early dismissal day for students on Friday, May 23, 2025.
LISD will release students at the following times.
• Elementary School 12:00 p.m.
• Middle School 12:30 p.m.
• High School 12:45 p.m.
Students will be served breakfast and lunch and transportation will be provided as usual.
