TMEA Region 14 Mariachi invites you to join us on February 7, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the UISD SAC Auditorium for an exciting afternoon of mariachi music!

Students from Laredo, Zapata, Alice and Corpus Christi will showcase their talents in a concert prepared with the guidance our guest clinicians: Maestro Jose Hernandez, founder of Mariachi Sol de Mexico, Crystal Hernandez of Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, and one our four very own Region 14 Mariachi directors, Ruben Guadian.

Members of the LISD Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council from Martin, Nixon, Cigarroa and Garcia Early College, along with LISD Superintendent Guillermo Prom and LISD Cabinet members attended the Mayor’s State of the City presentation at the Sames Auto Arena. Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino personally invited these students because he wanted our community’s future leaders to be in the audience.

The Laredo Independent School District is hosting its sixth annual Scholars Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Casa Blanca Golf Course.


Funds raised from the Golf Tournament will benefit scholarships for deserving graduating seniors from the Hector J. Garcia Early College High School, Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, J.W. Nixon High School, and Dr. Leonides Cigarroa High School

The office of Federal Programs conducted a training for all principals and administrative personnel on how to maximize the impact their school’s Title I and Compensatory Education funds in order to improve student achievement and the results of their educational programs by focusing on an educational investment mindset.

The Laredo ISD CTE Department presented at the Region 1 CTE Director’s Meeting, showcasing the wide range of Career and Technical Education programs available to students throughout the district. The presentation also highlighted Laredo ISD’s specialty schools and the unique pathways they offer to help students explore careers, gain certifications, and build skills for future success.
