Congratulations to Ms. Monica Martinez Hamilton Cigarroa High School Certified Interpreter for being named the LISD 2026 Instructional Support ParaProfessional of the Year.

Congratulations to Ms. Stephanie Garza from Esther G. Buckley Early College and Martin High School for being named the LISD 2026 Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations to Santa Maria Elementary School, fourth grade teacher, Ms. Erika Flores for being named the 2026 LISD Elementary Teacher of the Year

Nixon High School celebrated seven student/athletes who signed their respective college/university letter of intent during Mustang Signing Day at the Kramer Gym. The NHS senior student-athletes signed their NLI to continue their academic and athletic careers at the college level.

Checkmate! LISD’s named its top chess players after a fierce competition this past Saturday at the LISD PAC in the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center. The LISD Fine Arts Department hosted an All-Star Chess Tournament for the district’s All-Star chess players. The top 10 winners were recognized with either a trophy or medal for their accomplishments.

The Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts presented graduating seniors from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High School with their VMT Medallion during the Annual Medallion Ceremony at the LISD PAC Auditorium.

Laredo ISD recognized its Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year and Clerical and Instructional Paraprofessional of the Year nominees during the district’s Employee of the Year Banquet which was held at the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center.

Kawas Elementary students celebrated a special milestone during their book signing ceremony held in the school library after successfully writing and publishing a book together.

Superintendent Guillermo Pro joined the celebration to congratulate the young authors and encourage them to continue writing, creating, and pursuing projects that inspire learning and creativity.

A proud moment for these future authors!
