The fantastic Operations Team at Laredo ISD worked hard this weekend to ensure our students have water for the week.
Kudos to the wonderful staff for always working hard to keep our students safe.

Due to a boil water notice issued by the City of Laredo late Thursday evening, Laredo ISD is cancelling classes at all of its campuses on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Classes for LISD are tentatively planned to resume for all students on Tuesday, October 15, as Monday, October 14, is a Staff Development Day for all LISD employees. Therefore there will be no classes for LISD students on Monday, October 14.
LISD will closely monitor the situation with city officials and provide additional updates regarding next week’s operations on LISD’s social media.

This October, Laredo ISD is honored to celebrate National Principals Month by recognizing the incredible contributions of our school principals. They are the true definition of leading the way with heart, inspiring change, supporting growth, and driving results. LISD elementary and secondary principals go above and beyond to ensure students have the resources and opportunities to succeed, while also empowering teachers and staff to reach their full potential. Their leadership fosters an environment of collaboration, innovation, and care, ensuring that every student feels valued and every educator feels supported.
LISD principals lead 20 elementary schools, four middle schools, four high schools, and five specialty schools, each contributing to the strength and diversity of our district. Their exceptional leadership has played a pivotal role in LISD earning 11 National Blue Ribbon titles, a testament to the excellence they foster across our schools.
“Principals wear many hats—they are mentors, advocates, problem-solvers, and visionaries, working tirelessly to meet the needs of their school communities. Their commitment to cultivating a positive school culture is evident in the achievements of our students and the strength of our district as a whole,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sylvia G. Rios said. “From guiding staff through new initiatives to building strong relationships with parents and the wider community, LISD principals are instrumental in driving the success of our schools.”

The LISD Health and Occupational Safety Support Services Department is very proud to announce that Laredo ISD received a return dividend check from Texas Mutual Insurance in the amount of $112,996.95 due to the district’s dedication and commitment to safety.

LISD is going RED! October is Dyslexia Awareness Month!

LISD is kicking-off the 2024-2025 Elementary Menu Advisory Committee (E-MAC) with the first meeting of the year at Sanchez Ochoa Elementary School! Five selected 3rd-5th graders from each campus have been invited to participate in this fun and important event, where they got to sample and give feedback on new food items for the upcoming school menus.
These students will assist the Child Nutrition Program to evaluate new food items and plan the menus for our students for the upcoming school year. Committee members will advocate for their peers and help plan meals that are pleasing to all students through the Menu Advisory Committee.
During the year students will learn and understand the importance about school meals and nutrition. They will be able to sample new food products and make recommendations on a variety of food items.
