
IMPORTANT NOTICE: LISD releases students at Gallego Elementary School
The Laredo Independent School District is releasing students at Gallego Elementary School today, Monday, August 26, at 2:30 p.m. due to a power outage in the area. AEP expects the power to be restored within the next several hours.
Parents are asked to please pick up their children as soon as possible.
LISD Transportation Department has already sent buses for those students who rely on bus transportation.
Classes at Gallego Elementary School will resume on Tuesday, August 27, at their regularly scheduled time.

Heights Elementary School kicked off this years Greatest Reading Show on Earth with its annual Accelerated Reader Rally in the school’s gym. A parade led by Circus Ring Masters, followed by the Nixon High School Drum line and Cheerleaders energized the crowd of students that is ready to reach their AR goal of 100 percent this school year.

This morning, Laredo ISD dedicated the shot put ring at Shirley Field to former Martin High School standout, Melanie Duron. Her hard work and dedication has left a lasting impact on our community, inspiring future athletes to reach new heights. Congratulations, Melanie! Continue leading the way!

Earlier this morning, the Valdez and Farias campuses were placed on secure to safeguard our students from a fire in a nearby warehouse.
At no time were the students and staff in danger. The secure has been lifted and Instruction continues as regularly scheduled at both campuses.
We thank the City of Laredo Fire Department, City of Laredo Police Department, and the Laredo ISD Police Department for their quick response to the incident.
