The Laredo City Council recognized the Nixon High School BBQ teams, the Nixon High School Girls Track and Field team, and Macdonell Elementary School Principal.
The Nixon High School BBQ teams participated at the UIL HSBBQ State Cook-Off! The Nixon One Trick Pony BBQ finished in a three-way tie for 2nd place, ultimately placing 4th after the tiebreaker. Nixon Iron Horse BBQ also fought hard, tying for 5th and finishing 6th after the tiebreaker.
The Nixon High School Girls Track and Field Team was recognized for winning the District Championship for the third consecutive year.
Macdonell Elementary School Principal Michelle Gonzalez was recognized for recently being selected as the winner of the HEB Excellence Award as the best principal in the state of Texas.
