The Laredo ISD Mathematics Department vision is to empower teachers to deliver instruction that develops mathematical competence and confidence in students by providing effective strategies for improving mathematical fluency and automaticity.

Mathematics Department Mission

It is our commitment to provide all Laredo ISD students with a relevant and rigorous mathematics curriculum that will provide them with the tools to be independent analytical thinkers and competent in mathematical applications. Through the use of exploration, application and direct instruction, the Laredo ISD Mathematics Department will prepare students for success in any career path they choose beyond high school enabling them to become lifelong learners.

  • Facilitate research based quality material.

  • Ensure the use of the Fundamental 5 method of instruction to address all populations.

Goal 2: High Level Planning of Instruction

  • Develop and implement Math curriculum guides.

  • Foster data driven collaborative planning.

  • Conduct classroom observations and provide effective feedback.

Goal 3: Student Success for the 21st Century

  • Impart rich and meaningful instruction that connects to real world exploration and hands-on activities.

  • Embed state and national assessment standards within the curriculum.

  • Provide opportunities to collaborate with College Career and Military Readiness, Special Populations, and Instructional Technology to facilitate and address different learning modalities.

“An excellent mathematics program requires effective teaching that engages students in meaningful learning through individual and collaborative experiences that promote their ability to make sense of mathematical ideas and reason mathematically.”
