Some of our 7th grade students from M. B. Lamar Middle School had the exciting opportunity to participate in a GEAR UP field trip to Texas A&M International University. During their visit, students explored the Teaching and Training Program of Study, where they learned about the path to becoming future educators. They experienced a college campus environment, learned about the preparation and dedication it takes to become a teacher, and began thinking about how their interests today can grow into meaningful careers tomorrow. A special thank you to our new GEAR UP facilitator, Mrs. Espinoza, for helping coordinate this meaningful opportunity for our students and supporting them as they begin exploring their future paths. We are proud of our Lions for representing M. B. Lamar so well and for taking another step toward their bright futures. 🦁🎓📚

Laredo ISD Special Education Department hosted the 2026 Special Olympics Texas Area 21 opening ceremony and games at historic Shirley Field. Special education students from Laredo ISD, Jim Hogg County ISD, Webb County Consolidated ISD and Zapata County ISD participated in a variety of events. Each student received a medal for every event they participated in.

🌎💚 Earth Day in the Makerspace 💚🌎

At M. B. Lamar Middle School, our current Makerspace unit blends literacy and STEAM learning. During Read Across America Week, at one of our stations, students are focusing on a special Earth Day poster design activity inspired by Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax.

Using Canva, students are designing digital posters that share powerful messages about protecting our planet. This activity highlights student voice, thoughtful design, creativity, and environmental awareness.

As The Lorax reminds us,
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not."
