This past weekend, Farias Elementary proudly hosted Engineering Design Challenge #4 as part of NASA's High School Aerospace Scholars program. Students from Farias Elementary, Bruni Elementary, Herrera Middle , and Nixon High School has fun putting their engineering skills and imagination to work while designing balloon rockets that launched to the ceiling. This challenge is designed to teach students about NASA's Constellation Program, including a heavy lift launcher called "Ares V" that will carry heavy payloads into orbit.

LISD is celebrating Texas Public School Week! LISD is opening its 20 elementary and four middle schools for parents and guardians to visit on Wednesday, February 26, from 8:30 a.m., to 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Report cards will be issued at LISD elementary schools.

LISD is proud to announce that Farias Elementary School Principal, Vanessa Ortegon, has been selected as one of the five finalists statewide for the prestigious HEB Excellence in Education Elementary School Principal of the Year award! We are proud of Principal Ortegon's hard work and commitment to shaping the future of education. Congratulations and best of luck in this well-deserved recognition MS. Ortegon!
