Bianca Herrera Martinez

he Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Bianca Herrera Martinez as the new Director of the Esther G. Buckley Early College High School, bringing more than a decade of experience in classroom instruction, campus leadership, and curriculum development to the role.

Herrera Martinez began her career with the district in 2009 as a science teacher at J.W. Nixon High School, where she later served as Science Department Master Teacher. In 2020, she transitioned into campus administration, serving as Dean of Instruction and later Assistant Principal at Dr. Leonides G. Cigarroa High School. Her leadership experience spans instructional coaching, campus operations, and student achievement initiatives. 

At the state level, Herrera Martinez contributed to the advancement of science education as a member of the Texas Education Agency Biology Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) review committee, supporting the development of statewide standards implemented during the 2023–2024 school year.

Herrera Martinez is a graduate of The Holdsworth Center Campus Leadership Program and the LISD Leading the Way Leadership Program. She holds a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Baylor University.

As Director of Esther G. Buckley Early College High School, Herrera Martinez will lead efforts focused on academic excellence, college readiness, and creating pathways that support student success beyond graduation.
