x devThe Laredo Independent School District celebrated the start of the 2024-2025 school year with a special event honoring its dedicated law enforcement officers. On Thursday, the LISD Police Department hosted the “Blessing of the Badges” ceremony at Divine Mercy Catholic Church.

The ceremony was designed to foster community unity and demonstrate support for local law enforcement officers as they prepare for the new school year. The event featured a special blessing of the officers’ badges, symbolizing the district's commitment to their well-being and the strength of their duty.

strhrthThe gathering brought together community leaders, school district officials, and local law enforcement agencies that included the Laredo Fire Department, Laredo Police Department, Webb County Constables Office, and many others. 

LISD PD Chief Doreen Hale expressed her gratitude for the community’s support for the officers who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our schools. “I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all law enforcement entities for their unwavering support and collaboration in our mission to protect our children,” she said. “Your dedication and teamwork are invaluable, and together, we are making a significant difference in ensuring the safety and well-being of our youngest and most vulnerable members of the community.”

The ceremony underscored the importance of collective responsibility in creating a secure and nurturing environment for both students and staff. “Together, we can continue to build a safer and stronger community for our kids. Let us remain vigilant and dedicated to this vital mission, knowing that every action we take contributes to a brighter and safer future for the next generation,” Chief Hale said.
