Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts (VMT) student Lyana Castro recently took her stagecraft to the professional level, serving as a backstage crew member for the Laredo Theater Guild International’s (LTGI) production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”
Castro, a student in VMT’s Technical Theater program under the instruction of Mr. Joshua Wolfe, gained hands-on experience in production operations, stage management, and technical execution during the run of the classic comedy. The role provided her with direct, real-world experience supporting a major community theater organization.
VMT leadership extended special recognition to Ms. Celia Hernandez, play director and President of the LTGI Board, as well as Mr. Joe Flores, LTGI Interim Artistic Director, for mentoring young artists and providing students with professional production opportunities.
"Behind every great production is a dedicated crew," VMT shared in a statement honoring Castro’s work. "We are incredibly proud of Lyana for representing VMT in our local arts community, and we deeply appreciate LTGI for giving our technical theater students the platform to hone their craft."
