Cigarroa High School and the LISD Athletic Department announce the naming of the new coach for Boys Track and Field at Dr. Leonides G.Cigarroa High School. Victor A. Montemayor, who has been the assistant track and field coach, has been promoted as the new Boys Track and Field Coach at Cigarroa High School. Montemayor will also continue his role as Defensive Coordinator of the football team.
“I am proud and honored to be named the head coach for our Toros boys track and field program,” said Montemayor. “The goal for our boys program is to maximize individual athletic performance, develop relentless competitive habits, and build strong character that will help them succeed in life.”
Montemayor has been in education for 19 years as a physical education teacher, and a football, basketball and track coach at the middle and high school levels. He started his career in 2006 at Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School as a football, basketball and track coach. Montemayor also coached football and track for one year at L.B. Johnson High School. In 2016, he began to teach and coach at Cigarroa High School.
Coach Montemayor is a product of United South High School Class of 2002. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from TAMIU in 2006.
Coach Montemayor is married to Zaira Montemayor and is the proud father to four children.
