On March 5th, Ryan Elementary pulsated with energy as students and families gathered for a uniquely structured Family Reading Night and Jamaica. The event successfully bridged the gap between academic growth and community celebration, utilizing every corner of the campus to create a memorable experience.
A Night of Two Worlds
The evening was designed to give families the best of both worlds:
Inside the Gym: The school gymnasium was transformed into a literacy sanctuary. Students moved through interactive reading stations, explored new stories, and engaged in activities designed to "level up" their reading skills in a focused, high-energy environment.
Under the Stars: The "Jamaica" festivities took center stage outdoors. The school grounds came alive with the sights and sounds of a traditional community fair, featuring food, games, and music that allowed families to relax and socialize in the fresh air.
A Heartfelt Thank You
An event of this scale is truly a communal effort. Ryan Elementary extends its sincerest gratitude to the hundreds of families who attended and filled the night with such vibrant spirit. Seeing our students excited about books while enjoying the community atmosphere is a testament to the strong bond we share.
We also want to give a massive thank you to our local community partners and volunteers. Your assistance in setting up the outdoor booths and managing the indoor literacy stations was the engine that made this night run smoothly. Your dedication to LISD students is what makes Laredo such a supportive place to grow and learn.
