Laredo’s future medical professionals were celebrated at Laredo ISD’s 2025-2026 Little Medical School Graduation. The future medical students were bestowed diplomas by Laredo Independent School District’s Little Medical School Program during the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, December 5, at the LISD PAC Auditorium. The Class of 2025 graduated 120 graduates in seventh and eighth grades from Christen, Lamar, Memorial, and Cigarroa Middle Schools who completed the Little Medical School’s nine-week afterschool program that focuses on medical and health careers.

With loud cheers and applauses, students were called on stage and congratulated by LISD Board President Goyo Lopez, LISD Board Vice-President Veronica Orduno, LISD Board Parliamentarian Rudy Morales, and LISD Board Member Juan Ramirez. The young medical students also posed for a picture with their instructors and were presented with their doctor’s diploma, white medical lab coat, and stethoscope.

LISD continues to shape future leaders of South Texas with its partnership with the Little Medical School, a franchise geared toward educating school aged children through science, medicine, and health-based programs. Students from each middle school had the opportunity to delve into the exciting world of healthcare by exploring the medical field and participating in the Little Medical School classes.

The Little Medical School is a nine-week afterschool program that focuses on the medical and health fields. The program was offered to middle school students who met two or three times a week for a two-hour session afterschool. Students learned about first-aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and the Heimlich Maneuver.

Brandon Jimenez of Christen Middle School, and Andrea Gomez of Cigarroa Middle School preformed the National Anthem. Students from the Esther G. Buckley Health Science Early College High School assisted with the graduation ceremony.
