The energy is high and the Lamar Middle School Lions are cheering loud for our remarkable 7th grader Sophia Cuevas, who has been named our campus Student of the Month for October 2025!
Sophia truly embodies the excellence and spirit we champion here at Lamar. A former Alma Pierce Elementary product, Sophia shines brightly in all she does. Her favorite subject is writing because it gives her the perfect platform to be creative and express herself. Her dedication is contagious, and she always strives to be her best, crediting the steadfast support of her family and friends for her motivation.
Sophia's vibrant presence is felt across our campus. She is a dedicated and proud member of the UIL, Orchestra, Chess team, and Technology programs. Outside of the classroom, her passions include playing the violin, drawing, and crocheting.
Lamar Middle School Principal, Mrs. M. Valdez, shared her excitement, stating, "Sophia is a phenomenal student who demonstrates maturity and leadership in every club and class she attends. She's a role model for her peers, showing that hard work, curiosity, and a positive attitude are the keys to success. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and her vision for the future."
Sophia is setting her sights on attending Garcia Early College High School and then heading to Rice University to earn a medical degree with the goal of becoming a psychologist or anesthesiologist.
Sophia is the beloved daughter of Eduardo and Anahi Cuevas, and we send a huge congratulations to them as well!
Congratulations, Sophia! Your Lamar family is incredibly proud of your accomplishments and your positive vibes! 💚
