The LISD Office of Communications kindly request your support for our upcoming Annual Belle of the Ball Prom Program. As we prepare for this special occasion, we are collecting formal and semiformal gowns for our young ladies and Tuxedos and sports coats and ties for our young men to provide them with memorable attire for their prom night.

If you have any gently used formal or semiformal dresses, Tuxedos and sports coats and ties that you would like to donate, we would be immensely grateful for your contribution. Your generosity will directly impact the lives of our students and help make their prom experience truly unforgettable.

Students at Daiches Elementary enjoyed a Makerspace fun day in the library last week!

The Daiches Elementary Chess Ninjas brought their A-game to the the 4th Laredo ISD Chess Tournament and made us incredibly proud—taking 1𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧! The Chess Ninjas were absolutely phenomenal!

Laredo ISD Special Education Department hosted the 2026 Special Olympics Texas Area 21 opening ceremony and games at historic Shirley Field. Special education students from Laredo ISD, Jim Hogg County ISD, Webb County Consolidated ISD and Zapata County ISD participated in a variety of events. Each student received a medal for every event they participated in.

Library Makerspace fun with our youngest creators in February!
Prekinder, Kinder, and 1st grade students listened to Love Monster and then created their very own Love Monster masterpieces.
So much creativity, imagination, and joy filled the library — we love seeing our students bring stories to life!

Daiches Elementary at the 19th Annual Student Technology Expo

The Laredo Independent School District is hosting its sixth annual Scholars Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Casa Blanca Golf Course.


Funds raised from the Golf Tournament will benefit scholarships for deserving graduating seniors from the Hector J. Garcia Early College High School, Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, J.W. Nixon High School, and Dr. Leonides Cigarroa High School

We are continuing to seek sponsors and teams for the tournament. If you need more information on being sponsor or want to register a team, please contact Bobby Trevino at rwtrevino@laredoisd.org or by phone at 273-1732.

Laredo’s combined law enforcement officials including Laredo ISD Police Departments, in conjunction with the City of Laredo Police Department, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office, and the Constable’s Office reminded the public about school bus safety, speed limits and the use of electronic devices while driving in school zones. Monday, August 11, is the first day of class for Laredo ISD.

McDonalds of Laredo presented Daiches, Bruni, Santa Maria, and Zachry Elementary Schools with a check during a ceremony at the LISD PAC Foyer. McDonalds hosted LISD McTeacher Night at various locations recently to benefit the four schools. The school received the donation for their efforts during the schools McTeacher Night Fundraiser. Staff from all four schools participated by helping sell cookies to help raise funds for their schools. The schools raised a total of $2,850. This is the 15th year that McDonald’s has sponsored McTeacher Night. McDonald’s of Laredo has also served as sponsor of LISD’s Jumbotron Scoreboard at Shirley Field since it was installed in 2013. They have also contributed towards LISD’s Accelerated Reading Program and LISD Leadership Meetings.
