LAREDO, TX — From May 4th to May 8th, the halls of H.B. Zachry Elementary were transformed from a standard schoolhouse into a sprawling kingdom of enchantment. To honor the "guardians of knowledge," the campus celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week with a whimsical fairy tale theme, proving that not all heroes wear capes—some carry dry-erase markers and lesson plans.
The Royal Proclamation
The week began with a "Royal Proclamation" from the administration, declaring the campus a realm where educators were to be treated as the kings, queens, and legendary figures they are. Throughout the week, the Laredo ISD community rallied to ensure that every teacher felt the magic.
Magic in the Classroom
The theme wasn't just for show; it reflected the daily magic Zachry teachers perform. "Our teachers are the true wizards," one parent remarked during the festivities. "They turn 'I can't' into 'I can' every single day."
The campus, known for its vibrant spirit and "Candy Cane Christmases," outdid itself with decorations featuring dragons, castles, and enchanted forests. The library, led by Mrs. Molina, served as the heart of the kingdom, reminding students and staff alike that every book is a portal to a new world.
Legacy of the Zebra Kingdom
As the sun set on May 8th, the "H.B. Zachry Zebras" looked back on a week filled with more than just treats and decorations. It was a week of profound gratitude for the educators who guide the children of Laredo through their own personal growth stories.
While the glass slippers and magic wands may be tucked away until next year, the impact of these "educational royalty" remains. At H.B. Zachry Elementary, the quest for knowledge continues, led by the finest knights and sorcerers in the profession.
And they all taught happily ever after. ✨
