After going word for word with Laredo ISD’s top spellers, Bruni Elementary School Fifth grade student Gavin Valdez was declared the First-Place winner of the 2026 LISD Spelling Bee Contest. The contest was held on Wednesday afternoon at the LISD Pac in the Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Room. Coming in Second Place was Christen Middle School eighth grader Victoria Salazar, while Leyendecker Elementary School fourth grader Kaedyn Vo won Third Place. The top three winners received trophies. The 24 participants representing LISD’s 20 elementary, and four middle schools received a Spelling Bee certificate and a ribbon.
