The halls of Bruni Elementary are buzzing with pride this week as we celebrate one of our very own, Selena Dueñas. Recently featured in the Sports Max newspaper segment "Orgullo de Laredo" (Pride of Laredo), Selena is proving that with hard work and a big heart, you can truly do it all.
Selena isn't just a student; she is a powerhouse of energy and leadership within our community.
A Leader on and off the Field
As the Co-Head Cheerleader for the Bruni Badgers, Selena is a constant source of school spirit. Whether she’s leading a pep rally or cheering from the sidelines on game day, she represents Bruni Elementary with grace, enthusiasm, and a smile that inspires her teammates.
But her athletic talents don't stop at the pom-poms. Selena is also a dedicated member of the Boys and Girls Club, where she swaps her cheer shoes for cleats. She is an active participant in:
Soccer: Sharpening her teamwork and agility on the pitch.
Gym Play: Staying active and building healthy habits with her peers.
Big Dreams and a Bright Future
While she stays busy with sports and spirit, Selena’s eyes are fixed on a goal far beyond the playground. She has a clear vision for her future and a heart for helping others.
Selena aspires to join the Laredo ISD Early College program to jumpstart her journey into the medical field. Her ultimate goal? To become a doctor. Given her discipline as a student-athlete and her natural leadership skills, we have no doubt she will be wearing a white coat and saving lives one day.
