MISSION, GOALS, AND OBJECTIVES (Must be aligned with
Campus Improvement Plan and Needs Assessments)
Mission: It is the mission
of the transportation department to provide sound transportation
practices in order to maximize all available resources and to
effectively utilize these resources in a collaborative,
learner-centered, performance-based and data-driven manner so that
the district can provide an environment that is safe and conductive
to teaching and learning.
Goals:

All available resources
will be maximized and utilized in a collaborative,
learner-centered, performance-based and data driven manner.

All transportation
activities will focus on the safety of district students,
employees and property as being paramount and in full support of
the district’s overall goals for student’s performance.

Utilize sound and timely
fiscal management practices in order to maintain the district’s
compliance with all local, state and federal safety rules and
regulations.

Effectively manage the
district’s transportation safety, loss control, and safe
environmental programs.

To establish and
maintain an organizational climate that respects the dignity and
worth of all people.

To establish and
maintain an environment within the district which maximizes safety
for all students, employees and visitors.

To implement effective
human resources practices that will result in high morale, fair
employment of personnel and improved employee relations, retention
and recruitment.

To implement and monitor
appropriate accountability measures to protect the resources of
the district including, but not limited to money, materials,
supplies, and equipment.

To implement a
professional and personal growth program that will result in all
employees having the opportunity to enhance their skills and
abilities for the purpose of improving their promotional and wage
earning capacities.
Objectives:

Timely prepare and
submit the required reports.
-
Assist in the reduction
of the number of cost of workers’ compensation claims.
-
Develop, implement, and
update the department’s information on the district’s web page.
-
Develop and implement
departmental loss control programs and training to minimize
losses.
-
Effectively manage the
department to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
-
Develop and implement a
staff development program to improve departmental knowledge.
-
Remain current on all
changes to laws and department guidelines.
Strategy(ies):
The transportation
department will continually support all the goals of the district
and enhance the total education process through effective management
of the programs under the department’s responsibility by:

Identification of safety
exposures via examination of selected operations, premises and/or
facilities.
-
Evaluation of identified
departmental exposures by predicting the frequency with which the
risk will result in loss, predicting the extent of severity of
each loss, and determining the number of losses likely to occur
due to a single loss event.
-
Management of identified
departmental exposures by eliminating, avoiding or reducing the
risk.
-
Improving the safety of
employees by continually monitoring their work habits by the
department’s safety officer.
-
Provide safety training
by “in” house and community resources to improve overall safety
and departmental performance.
Performance Evaluation:
Periodic review of the
amount being expanded in a particular program in relation to how
successful the program has been according to its stated goals and
objectives. A continuous assessment and evaluation of the department
to enhance efficiency and streamline operations is a top priority.
Significant Changes from
Previous Year: Some significant changes in the transportation area
of Sp. Education, Construction and the “overflow” routes of students
from several schools which affect the delivery system and might
require additional personnel and equipment.
Justification:
-
Two-way radios – there
is a need to replace some radios which we have been experiencing
problems with, these radios have been in use for more than 5
years.

Video cameras: these
cameras need to be replaced which have been in operation for 5
years. The wear and tear of this equipment has gone beyond repair.

Car seats are needed to
replace old seats for infants.
-
Car seats are needed to
replace old seats booster.
-
Evacu-aid blankets are
needed for Special Education purposes.
-
Impact wrench needed to
replace old.
-
Umbrella needed for
safety gear for work area (personal protection)

Training set up
equipment for safety training purposes
-
Training videos for
safety training purposes.
