The LISD Tax Office was established in January, 1985 by the School Board as an attempt to increase property tax collections and increase State revenues. The first property taxes collected were for tax year 1986.

For the first time, in tax year 2001, the Tax Office garnered a 96% collection rate. Again in each subsequent year the collection rate was maintained at the 96% rate level. LISD Tax Office exceeded expectations for the tax collections in the current tax year
