Function
The department is staffed with one (1) professional, the Risk Manager, and one (1) para-professional, a Risk Management Clerk. It is a support department that provides the district with the necessary action plan and/or insurance products necessary for the identification, categorization, evaluation, and management of risk exposures. Although multi-faceted and very diverse, the main duties entail the timely procurement and effective management of all the district's insurance products.
 
Mission
Is the mission of the Risk Management Department to implement sound fiscal risk management planning and practices in order to maximize all available resources and thus support the mission and goals of the district.
 
Department Goals
Support the mission of the district.
 
Support the District/Superintendent's Priority Goals.
 
Effectively manage all aspects of the district's Risk Management programs and duties in order to account for and maximize all available resources.
 
Department Objectives
To procure all insurance products on a timely basis.
 
To maintain the appropriate level of insurance for all risks.
 
To maintain an effective loss ratio on all insurances based on premiums paid, claims/ utilization, risk exposures and market trends.
 
Prior Year Highlights
Obtained a health insurance refund premium of $698,143 based on the District loss ration of 70%.
 
Obtained an estimated savings in the Life and AD&D insurance premium of $30,000, or 30% for the second year in a row.
 
Reduced cost of premiums in the Property and Casualty Insurance by 3% or $16,165.
