Parent Involvement is the participation of parents in every facet of the education and development of children from birth to adulthood, recognizing that parents are the primary influence in their children’s lives. Parent involvement takes many forms, including the parents’ shared responsibilities in decisions about children’s education, health and well-being, as well as the parents’ participation in organizations that reflect the community’s collaborative aspirations for all children
The Laredo Independent School District’s Parent Involvement Program invites all parents to become parent volunteers. The Parent Involvement Program is reaching out to parents to make them full partners with educators in the education of their children. The goal of the program is to create partnerships between the school, home, and community.
Research clearly affirms that parental involvement is a key ingredient in student success. To ensure student success, L.I.S.D, is seeking to engage parents and community volunteers in a wide range of activities at the schools. The value of volunteering and mentoring cannot be overestimated. The blessing of working with children often extends not only to the student, but also to the individual investing his or her time.
As parents, business and community leaders come together to ensure student success, the sense of investment and awareness of the ability to change direction or set new goals becomes a reality. Give your child a gift that lasts …………. your involvement. |
