P-16 is a state initiative that describes an educational system from pre-school, “P”, through a four-year degree, “grade 16”.    The purpose of this initiative is to improve the academic achievement of students and prepare them for success in secondary and post- secondary education and today’s global workforce by providing a seamless transition from one educational level to the next. Additionally, P-16 creates a college-going culture throughout the school system.
