Know Your Counselor Your Counselor is a Caring, Understanding, Helping, and Trustworthy Person! Personal Counseling If you are experiencing problems in school or in your personal life, know that your counselor can help you cope with individual problems by helping you realize that help is always available. Academic Guidance You can ask your counselor for information about higher education and how it increases your opportunities to have a better life. Your counselor can provide information about the graduation requirements, classes needed for certain careers, and how to prepare for post-secondary education. Career Guidance If you want information about career options, your counselor can assist you in planning for the world of work by helping you become aware of the many career choices you can make. Your counselor can provide information on financial aid including scholarships and can assist you in exploring your own interests, abilities and needs of the future. You will also be able to develop job seeking and retention skills. Testing and Evaluation Testing and evaluation is a means through which you can identify and understand your strengths and weaknesses by discovering your abilities. This can be done through career surveys, interest inventories, achievement or aptitude tests, and opinion surveys.
