Veronica C. Castillon, APR Interim Director of Communications/
(Public
Information Officer)

Veronica brings 30 years of public relations
and communications experience to the Laredo Independent School District. A
product of Nixon High School, Castillon received a Bachelor of Journalism
degree from the University of Texas at Austin. While at the state capitol,
Veronica worked as a news reporter with KTBC-TV Channel 7. She earned
an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) status from the Public Relations
Society of America. Veronica worked
as an lifestyle editor at The Laredo Morning Times for nearly 10 years and was also
a marketing and public relations officer at the International Bank of
Commerce prior to joining the Laredo Independent School District in 1993.
Veronica has won numerous awards for her writing, editing, and creative
talents from the Texas Press Women, the Texas School Public Relations
Association, and the National School Public Relations Association. She
shares her time and talents as a board member with numerous organizations
including the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, KLRN TV Public Broadcast Station for South Texas, the Washington's
Birthday Celebration Association, and the Society of Martha Washington.

Jeannette G. Martinez,
Instructional Television Coordinator

A graduate of Nixon High School, Jeannette holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Specialization in Reading and a Master’s degree in Education with a Major in Administration from Texas A&M International University in Laredo. Additionally, she has obtained both Bilingual/ESL and Texas Principal Certification. Jeannette began working for LISD in August 1996 as a classroom teacher at Buenos Aires Elementary. In August 1999, she became a Campus Technology Trainer for Macdonell and Santa Maria elementary schools and in October 2000 transferred to Instructional Television as a Studio Teacher/Campus News Producer. Since July 2003, she has served as the coordinator for the ITV department. While at ITV, Jeannette has garnered numerous state and national awards including The Videographer Award of Distinction, TSPRA Best of Category Award, and an Emmy nomination for the production of Campus News. Jeannette is currently the president of the Laredo Administrators and Supervisors Organization.

Mario S. Perez, Printing/Creative Services Supervisor

Mario Sergio Perez has proudly served the Laredo Independent School District for 27 years. A Martin High School graduate, Mario began his career with the district as a teacher assistant. He has served the rest of his tenure in the Printing/Creative Services Dept. where he currently holds the position of Supervisor. His most precious joys in life come from his loving family and passion for music.

Maribel “Mimi” Valdez , Community
Relations Specialist

A graduate of J.W. Nixon High School and the
Vidal M. Trevino Magnet School, Mimi has been employed with the Laredo
Independent School District since May 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Communications and Dance with certification in Speech Education
from Texas State University in San Marcos. Mimi’s previous employment
experience includes working as a speech teacher at United High School for
three years. She has also worked as a case manager / career consultant for
the Texas Workforce Youth Center and community advisor for the Laredo
Community College Upward Bound Program. Mimi enjoys preparing young women
for beauty pageants in all aspects of Public Speaking.

Paola Arcos Mansinghani, Publications Designer

Paola Arcos is the publications designer in
the Office of Communications. Paola is a graduate of the Universidad de
Monterrey, Mexico where she obtained her degree in Graphic Design. Paola’s
previous work experience includes the Laredo Morning Times, BH
Transportation, Miracle Candle Company, and Logistics of the American
Continent and El Manana Newspaper. In her spare time, Paola enjoys
painting, ceramics, and photography. She is also fluent in many computer
software programs.

Armando Saldaña, Web Services Specialist

Armando handles all web duties for the district and maintains the district web-site. Armando is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He has been working in the design and internet field for 4 years and his work experience includes IBC Bank and the Laredos newspaper.

| Luis Davila, Commercial
Artist |
Luis Davila has been employed with the Laredo
Independent School District for over 22 years. He obtained a degree in
commercial art via correspondence studies when living in Davenport, Iowa.
Luis returned to Laredo and later received his General Education Degree.
Luis enjoys spending time with his family and going to the
ranch.

| Martin Rodriguez, Commerical
Artist |
| A graduate of Martin High School,
Martin Rodriguez has been working for the Laredo Independent School
District for 21 years. He received his associate's degree in Advertising
Arts from San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas. He enjoys playing
guitar in his spare time and spending time with his family. |
