The Laredo Independent School District Print Shop became part
of the Laredo ISD Office of Communications in the spring of 1994. In
July 2001, the unit expanded to include the Graphics Department, and
as a result, changed its name to the Printing/Creative Services
Department. The department has made great strides in regards to
printing capabilities and in using state-of-art
equipment. |
The following policies and
procedures will allow us to serve you better and provide the district with
optimal printing services:
The Laredo Independent
School District Printing/Creative Services Department has put
together a set of policies and procedures that will make it easier
to carry out the district’s printing and graphics needs in a timely
and efficient manner. It is the goal of this department to provide
the best printing and graphics services, and at the same time, meet
all deadlines as stipulated in each job order.
|
Policy: the school principal or program
director should approve all printing and/or graphics work orders.
Additionally, a 10-business day notice will be required for all job orders
with each request being treated on a first-come-first served basis.
Emergency requests will be considered based on their individual
merits.
All printing and/or graphics
requests will originate from the office of the school principal or
designated administrator. Printing and/or graphics requests originated by
band directors, pep squad sponsors, choir directors, or sponsors of any
school group, etc. will have to be approved by the school principal. In
relation to this and as it relates to program or project directors, the
requests will be approved by the directors or designated
individuals.
Pursuant to state regulations,
all printing and/or graphics requests by school administrators or central
staff administrators, on behalf of civic clubs or civic functions, will be
honored on the premise that materials and/or labor will be paid by the
beneficiary.
The 10-business day limit as to
when printing and/or graphics requests will be accepted and processed will
be strictly adhered to at all times.
Principals, administrators, and
program directors are reminded to plan for their printing needs for the
entire school year. It is recommended a “Printing/Creative Services
Coordinator” be assigned for each school and/or department to better
coordinate all printing and/or graphics requests on a timely and efficient
manner.
Until otherwise notified, only
ad-free materials will be printed or published by the LISD
Printing/Creative Services Department.
All requests for printing and/or
graphics will be accompanied by the purchase request and/or bid item
request signed and coded by the authorized person.
Proofreading is the
responsibility of the originator of the printing and/or graphics request.
The Printing/Creative Services Department will provide two drafts of the
printing materials and it is therefore, recommended that all revising be
done at this time.
To the furthest extent possible,
all forms to be used by all campuses will be generic in nature. This will
be done in order to have all elementary, middle, and high schools use the
same forms. As such, no individual forms will be produced with specific
names and titles.
The Printing/Creative Services
Department is not a design firm, and is therefore, limited to the type of
projects it can produce in regards to logos, layouts, and four-color
processing projects. Staff will do everything possible to assist schools
and departments with the most pleasing and attractive materials possible.
The Printing/Creative Services
Department provides “fast copy” service. The department will handle only
originals requiring 50 copies or more. All requests for copies must be
accompanied by the copyright.
Questions should be directed to the supervisor
regarding printing and/or graphics capabilities. The Laredo
Independent School District Printing/Creative Services Department is
located at 2600 Zacatecas
Street, Building M100,
on the Cigarroa High
School campus.
