The Laredo Independent School
District has come a long way since being established more than
a century ago. From a single room schoolhouse, to a
district sprawling more than 13.83 square miles, the district
is rich in history and tradition. The district reflects the
colorful heritage and unique culture that make Laredo, Texas,
a city like no other.
The Laredo Independent School
District is made up of 30 educational institutions: 21
elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools,
three magnet schools, and the Early College High School. The three magnet schools are the Vidal
M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts and a Health
and Science Magnet school. The Treviño Magnet School
offers talented students instruction in the areas of
communications, music, dance, visual arts, drama, and
academics. It was the city's first magnet school. The Health and Science Magnet School, located at
Martin High School, was designed to provide a solid foundation
and a rigorous curriculum to prepare students pursuing health
careers. The Magnet School
for Engineering and Technology Applications, located at Cigarroa High School, was designed to provide
an intensive curriculum to persuade students to pursue careers in the engineering and technology industries. The F. S. Lara Academy is the district's alternative
education school. |

effective problem solvers who are confident, self-motivated,
and actively involved in our local and global
community.
Our community
